Juwan Malone scored 22 points and Isaiah Grandison had a big game as Saratoga Racers defeated the previously unbeaten New England Lightning, 139-117, on Sunday. Grandison scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Saratoga improved to 9-3 on the season. Saratoga Racers trailed 48-30 at one point in the game before mounting their comeback. Trailing 50-36, Saratoga Racers went on a 20-point run to take the lead. Saratoga Racers captured the win despite trailing 57-56 at halftime. Saratoga Racers controlled the paint, grabbing 45 rebounds. Isaiah Grandison led the team with 10 rebounds. Saratoga Racers passed the ball well with 40 assists on 61 made baskets. Williams led the team with 10 assists. Saratoga Racers's ball pressure forced 25 steals in the game. Rj Rosa led the team with eight steals. The special on-court ceremony was attended by Joe Loudis wife, children, grandchildren, and multiple former players. Williams scored 41 points to lead Saratoga Racers and Grandison scored 32 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. The Racers improve to 7-3 on the season. Saratoga Racers had a strong first half, leading 79-65 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory. Leading 93-78, Saratoga Racers went on a 14-point run to pull further away. Williams scored 16 points in the third quarter as Saratoga Racers outscored Boston Sharks 49-27. Saratoga Racers scored at will in the paint. They went 53-86 on twos. Williams, Grandison, Keishaun Wheelings, and John Ryals III each hit multiple three-pointers for Saratoga Racers. The team shot 18-45 (40%) from beyond the arc. Joey Harden scored 31 points to lead Saratoga Racers. Saratoga Racers went on a 12-3 run to start the game. Trailing 20-18, Saratoga Racers went on a 10-point run to take the lead. Saratoga Racers got out to a 76-64 lead at halftime before closing out the victory. The fourth quarter was the best for Saratoga Racers as they outscored Herkimer 47-33. This will be a very special game for the Racers, will a special pre-game ceremony to honor long time Mechanicville and Cohoes Head-Coach Joe Loudis, with the naming of our home court to Joe Loudis Court. Coach Loudis was an assistant coach at Schenectady High School for his son, Eric, and coached multiple players that are currently Saratoga Racers.
